Prague and Vienna

Finally! You get to see pictures from my December trip! This pictures aren't exactly in order of what we did and I doubt that I'll be able to remember everything in order as well! Our arrival was quite interesting. We flew from SLC to Paris. Got into Paris early but sat in the plane for forever and then missed our flight from Paris to Prague! It was crazy trying to get through customs too! But it all worked out and they actually ended up putting us on the same flight as Mary, so it was nice to get there all at the same time!  We got to the hotel that night and just crashed!  I think we were all pretty exhausted.

We did a lot of walking around Prague and seeing the Christmas Markets and went to two operas (Tosca and The Magic Flute) while we were there.  We also went to a string concert which was really cool.

One of the days we took a bus out to Terezen to a concentration camp.  It was the "posh" concentration camp that they were showing off saying things weren't so bad for the Jews!  HA!  It was also where Hitler was building a museum to an "extinct race."  Little did he know.....

(Prague...I was kinda obsessed with the snow...they put rocks in it so it would be harder to slip, but it made it look like chocolate chip ice cream!)

On Sunday we went to church in Prague.  It was a really neat experience and I even got to see one of my old co workers there!  After that we jumped on a bus and headed to Vienna.  We got there and dropped our stuff off at the hostil and went downtown and ended up going to a beautiful concert that night!  While we were there we also went and visited the Vienna Palace and took a tour through it.  At night time, the Christmas decorations were breathtaking!  The pictures do not do them justice!  After spending a couple days in Vienna we headed back to Prague via the bus.  We visited a friend of Sherstin's and enjoyed more Christmas Markets.

(Prague.  Funny story here...we went to ice cream at this place and we decided that the four of us would share three ice creams.  So we ordered a nutella sundae, a chocolate sundae and a fruit sundae.  We had an interesting experience with the chocolate sundae...Mary took a bite of it and thought it was great and was going to town on it.  I took a bite and thought it tasted gross, so I started going to town on the nutella sundae.  Sherstin and Ashley took a bite of it and it burned their throats....alcohol of course!  So, Sherstin took it back to the waiter and he got us a new one...minus the alcohol!  We thought it was funny how representative that was of our personalities...)

Something I will always remember about Prague is that the food was not very good. Very greasy and there was always some mystery meat in the morning to eat. Gross. But when we got to Vienna, we were all thrilled to get to eat really good food! All in all, it was a great experience and I will for sure end up going back to Austria to do some more traveling in that country!
