5 Things That Have Changed My Life - 30 Health Posts in 30 Days

Today's assignment is to write about 5 things that have changed my life...

Being Diagnosed
This one probably could go without saying.  Being diagnosed with diabetes has changed my life forever.  I mean, really...if I didn't have diabetes, I never would have to think about all the things I wrote about yesterday. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if I didn't have to work at staying alive every day.  But at the same time, I have a disease that I can still live everyday as a normal person does.  If I don't let diabetes limit me, then it won't!

Insulin Pump
Oh bloody heck...if I didn't have an insulin pump, I'd be giving myself shots a bazillion times a day!  Instead I can just punch a few numbers into a little box clipped to my pants and it will even figure out how much insulin I should take!  What a blessing this has been in my life...seriously makes it so much easier to deal with.  I hated taking shots, especially when going out to dinner or something.

Diabetes Management Clinic
When my blood sugar levels had gotten way out of control, I was referred to the Diabetes Management clinic in Provo.  The whole team there have really changed my life and helped me get my blood sugar levels back into control.  Seriously, they are amazing and I actually look forward to going to my doctor appointments!  If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't feel as great as I do now and I wouldn't have a CGM!

CGM
Continuous Glucose Monitor.  What can I say?  I love this thing.  Almost as important it as it is for me to always know my blood sugar level is to see where it is trending as well. That is what this little piece of technology does for me.  I can't even express how wonderful it is to see the graphs on my pump showing me what my blood sugar is and where it is going.  It gives me peace of mind, which is what I need.

The Atonement
Especially because of diabetes, I realize that the atonement is not only for sinners, but also for those in pain for any reason.  I can lean on the fact that the Lord knows exactly what I am going through and it gives me the strength to keep going when I don't want to or want to wonder why I was given this trial in my life.  I am grateful for my Savior who has suffered for me so that I might not have to go through anything alone.

I love your number five. The atonement mostly is associated with sin and repentance, but is there for all. Thanks for your example.
